What is maths mastery?

Mastering maths means pupils of all ages acquiring a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject.

Achieving mastery means acquiring a solid enough understanding of the maths that’s been taught to enable pupils to move on to more advanced material.

Our school serves as a maths mastery hub, partnered with Maths Hubs Venn Essex where teachers from across the county come to observe maths mastery teaching and engage in training around the teaching of maths.

Our maths leader is Local Leader of Maths Education, delivering training to other professionals in delivering the mastery approach.
